Split

The Best File Splitter

This is a nice freeware Windows 9xME/XP program that will cut large files floppy size, or any size that you specify. This program is useful for transferring large files using floppies. It is also useful if you use pen drives, key drives, Compact Flash, or any other type of flash memory, that might not be big enough to transfer movies and large downloads on one disk. You could even use this program to cut up a large file into small pieces, if you are creating a website with downloads aimed at modem users. This would allow them to download the file over a period of time, piece by piece. All that is required to reassemble the split file, is the automatically generated batch file.

Advanced User Info:

All that is required to reassemble the split file, is the automatically generated batch file. Yes, the batch file will work on Windows XP. You can, however reassemble the file in DOS if you want, say if you were transferring a file from a Windows computer to a DOS computer. Furthermore, you do not even need the batch file, if you know DOS commands. The batch file is very easy to figure out: it uses the copy command to copy many files onto a single file, which results in restoring the original file. (Ex. copy /b 1 + 2 + 3)
